What can I do to reduce my stress?

Obviously, there is no easy answer to this. Entire books are written on the topic. Many people make their living counseling others on stress-reduction techniques. The first thing to do is to understand what is causing your stress. If it is painful joints from arthritis or an infection in your lungs, then you need to get treatment to reduce the pain or heal the infection. If it is a specific psychological problem such as an unpleasant work environment or a bad relationship, then you need to consider options such as changing jobs or getting out of the bad relationship. If your whole life just seems too busy and too stressful, then it can be harder to identify any specific one or two things for you to change. Talk it over with your friends. Try to find some time every day to do something nice for yourself. If you find that you respond to stress by doing unhealthy things like overeating on “comfort “ food or drinking too much alcohol, then you should get professional help from a behavioral health therapist or a sychological
counselor.
